Broissants are Back at Peterbrooke Chocolatier of Winter Park for Magical Dining Month!

Ever since Peterbrooke Chocolatier of Winter Park discontinued their popular Broissants last year, fans of the fried croissant doughnuts have been clamoring for their return.  So owners Jami and Kevin Wray decided to bring them back, weekends only, for Magical Dining Month.  These rich yet delicate pastries are light and buttery with many flaky layers, but the toppings are the real stars. Fresh, house-made sauces include dark chocolate & caramel with fleur de sel.

Chocolate and peanut butter is my favorite dessert combo, and the Nutter Butter Broissant is my favorite way to enjoy it. It's filled with peanut butter, topped with warm milk chocolate sauce, with a crumbly Nutter Butter topping.  Jami was inspired by Winter Park's new Trader Joe's to create the ultimate indulgence: a Broissant topped with their Speculoos Crunchy Cookie Butter and milk chocolate!

If you smell the enticing aroma of fried dough and chocolate when walking down Park Avenue this September, you might want to drop in and satisfy your Broissant craving! Last day you can get these is Sunday, September 28th.

Peterbrooke Chocolate Winter Park Valentine's preview party

Peterbrooke Chocolate Winter Park recently held a Valentine's preview party. Here is a summary of the presentations and pairings:

After a brief history of Peterbrooke. Owner Kevin Wray demonstrated their chocolate truffle cake kit and they passed out samples of the truffle cake. Oh! the fudgy goodness.  A Truffle Cake is essentially a flourless chocolate soufflé cake.

Next his wife and partner Jamie demonstrated the chocolate mold, where you pour the hot chocolate in a mold and it hardens.
Lisa Wilk of Orlando Uncorked(link) did a chocolate and wine pairing. The wines were from Orlando’s only winery Quantum Leap. Quantum Leap buys wines from all over the country and blends them here.
The first wine was Kaley’s Rescue Red, this is a red blend named for the winery’s dog Kaley who was a rescue dog. A portion of the proceeds from the wine go to the ASPCA of central Florida. Lisa paired that wine with Peterbrooke’s 65% Signature Dark Chocolate.

Next Lisa paired the Merlot with 65% dark chocolate with sea salt. The salt from the spice and tea exchange on Park Ave. is a French Fleur de sel salt.

Following those pairings we got to sample the truffle cookies, chocolate covered popcorn and huge chocolate covered strawberries.

The truffle cookie is a large chocolate cookie that captures the flavors of their truffle cake with a crispy outside and a chewy inside accented with crunchy walnuts.

Lisa will be doing wine and chocolate pairings with Peterbrooke chocolate and Quantum Leap on Feb 12th and March 12th. For more info go to http://www.quantumleapwinery.com

The Dessert Lady

The Dessert Lady has been around town in different locations for many years now(downtown and also on Kirkman). Not long ago she relocated her establishment to the Dr. Philips area. Recently she invited a group of local restaurant and food bloggers to an event at her new place so we could try her many delicious desserts.

The Dessert Lady herself, Patti, was there and she was quite charming and it was great to spend time chatting with her about her desserts and her business.  Below are the pictures.

The Dessert Lady's one and only location is now at:
7600 Dr.Philips Blvd #78
Orlando, FL 32819
(407) 999-5696

Next to Chamberlins and Pinkberry.
