Orlando Festival of Bacon 2017

The Orlando Festival of Bacon is coming to Lake Baldwin Park on Saturday, November 4th from
11am-6pm. Spots are still available for both event sponsors and vendors of the tasty pork treat.
Bacon is pork cured in salt and boiled, smoked, or left to dry in order to seal in its distinctive flavor. In America, the meat is traditionally taken from pork belly, which has more fat than side cuts or pork loin, but more meat than fatback.

The recent popularity of bacon has been called “bacon mania” and manifests in many new bacon
products every year. Bacon ice-cream, bacon whiskey, and chocolate-covered bacon, while once
culinary rarities, have become almost mainstream.

It is a great pleasure to be bringing the Festival of Bacon to the Lake Baldwin Park Community. This
outdoor area will provide the best location for all attendees to enjoy the food, music, entertainment,
and atmosphere the Festival of Bacon will deliver, right in the heart of Baldwin Park. Festival of Bacon projects an attendance of more than 5,000 people throughout the day for a Food Festival that is Family Friendly, Diverse, and with Entertainment for all.

This year’s festivities will include an all-star line up of live music & bands, which will perform on the center stage of the park. Line up to be announced soon!

We are also providing personalized experiences through the building of Entertainment Zones,
including specially curated areas throughout the park! Kids under 12 are free and can enjoy a variety of inflatables, music, games, and, of course, cotton candy! All the while adults can partake in all of your favorite Lawn Games with the beautiful scenery that is Lake Baldwin Park, creating a great atmosphere for all lovers of Bacon!

In 2013 the Festival of Bacon attracted 11K attendees to Festival Park. This year, with new partners
and producers, the festival proudly calls Lake Baldwin Park it’s new home for the 2017 event. Our
main focus is to supply our patrons with the highest quality event, with attention to ALL DETAILS.

We are taking ample measures to make sure there is minimal wait time at all stations. One of these
measures is that this year cash and debit cards will be accepted at every vendor, including all drink
stations and bars.

Gideon's Bakehouse

https://www.facebook.com/gideonsbakehouse/

This place sells out of Cookies every day. Must be amazing, that's the word on the street.

From their FB: "Gideon's Bakehouse is a dessert project built from an old forgotten dream. We've combined our love for baking with the recipes in a 1898 diary of a young boy named Gideon who dreamed of opening a bakery. Our cake slices are built off of classic recipes and our cookies set the standard for what a cookie should be. 6 ounces. Hand crafted. Melt in your mouth. Flavor packed. You won't experience anything else like it. The cookie revolution has begun!"

New Chefs on the Block

New Chefs on the Block

  • Directed by: Dustin Harrison-Atlas
  • USA, 2017, 96 minutes
  • Florida Premiere
In the restaurant business, hard work doesn’t always pay off. Nearly 50% of restaurants fail in their first year, while 60% don’t even make it to their second year. Two chefs—Frank Linn of Frankly…Pizza! and Aaron Silverman of Rose’s Luxury—with blind determination and even slimmer odds, struggle to open and maintain their first restaurants in Washington, DC. In parallel development, these two young ambitious chefs with very different personalities and restaurant styles reveal the journeys and the hardships of bringing their visions to life. Construction delays, skyrocketing costs, rookie mistakes, and the growing pains of new restaurants push both chefs to the brink. Who will make it? NEW CHEFS ON THE BLOCK delivers a nitty-gritty real-life look into the adversities, pressures, and enormous rewards of opening a restaurant. Featuring legendary chefs and restaurateurs Danny Meyer, Michel Richard, Mike Isabella, and Washington Post food writer Tim Carman.

Bugs

Bugs
  • Sat, April 22nd 2:00PM - 3:00PM Regal Winter Park Village A
  • Directed by: Andreas Johnsen
  • Denmark/Netherlands/France/Germany, 2016, 73 minutes
Part eco-doc, part food film, BUGS begs the question: how tasty can a queen termite really be?  This gorgeous film features two intrepid researchers from the Nordic Food Lab, who travel the world in search of exquisite insect flavors. Not only do they seek cultures in Australia, Kenya, Uganda, Italy, Japan, and more that feast on crawly things, they work to create haute cuisine from local maggots and bees. And young chef Ben Reade and food-science researcher Josh Evans eat it all. The founders of the world-renowned Danish Restaurant NOMA created the Nordic Food Lab as a “non-profit, self-governed, open-source institution that investigates food diversity and deliciousness.” These young missionaries are as concerned with sustainability and economics as with good food, which makes BUGS a beautiful, insightful, worldwide investigation into the complicated promise of protein from insects.

One Hundred Thousand Beating Hearts

  • Directed by: Peter Byck
  • USA, 2016, 15 minutes

Meet Will Harris, a truly awesome guy. His journey from industrial rancher to sustainable, humane food producer will fascinate and inspire you.
